The Girl Behind The Wall : Part 2

 Little did she know

Her only shield's gonna break

For her, storms await

A lot is gonna be at stake

Unaware of all this

She kept treading ahead

Held her head high

What is there to dread

The change in her,

Was slow and subtle

Every single layer

Was carefully opened with a rustle

It was the best time

Of her entire life

Every single atom in her body

Felt completely alive

Then came that night

Which broke her very core

That thunder and the flat bar

Filled fear into her every pore

She felt something in her gut

Shivers travelled down her spine

What it exactly was

She couldn't define

This time, even books can't be her shield

Behind the wall as well, she couldn't hide

The girl who never skipped a meal

Suddenly started to refuse every single bite

Somehow she got better

They told her it was stress

But they had no idea

Inside her, what did she suppress

They say sharing is caring

For if you don't say it out loud

All those words one day

Will end up becoming your shroud

There was only person

To whom she could tell

Still, she decided not to

As that person was unwell

Back to her safety net

She ignored once again

By drowning herself in books

She tried to numb all of that pain

Then continued on her way

Towards that unknown goal

Didn't matter how far the destination is

As long as it is love, that filled her soul

She was never smart

She just worked hard

Hated losing control

Therefore, always kept herself on guard

But they turned her into a genius

And gave her a crown

Though it weighed more than her

She never sighed nor gave a frown

Because it was not only their fault

She dug her own grave

Always taking responsibilities

Trying to act brave

Now it was too late to give it all up

It was the final showdown

She used every ounce of her

Under expectations, she must not drown

The thing about a person is

Even the most trivial things can break

All of them could be shattered

By a single word said by mistake

There came the last blow

They called her mean

When all she did was to give

How could she ever forget that scene

She crawled into the classroom

Saw names scribbled on the bench

Hers was the only one missing

A liquid filled her eyes,

formed with agony, regret and wrench

Topper, Topper, Diamond, Hundred

There was too much noise in her ears

She finally understood why

People just wanted to disappear

Yet she composed herself

For the sake of her safety net and her shield

Just one last time

She must not yield

The thing about words is

They can save and they can slay

She waited in the hope

That the right words, someone might say

As always, she did her best

Completed that futile race

Even after scoring decent

All she got were disappointed faces

Towards the only thing she loved

She developed an aversion

Filled with anger and disgust

She discarded the version

The girl behind the wall

Now wanted to be free

After abandoning the version

She got filled with a rebellious spree

The thing about freedom is

It is nice but it is scary

When you've been imprisoned all your life

The world beyond it, could make you wary

So, when she came out

She found herself at sea

Studying was her only forte

Without it, what she should be

The city seemed so big

And she was so small

Everybody was running

Breathless, trying to achieve it all
